Why should I have my furnace or air conditioner tuned up?
A dirty appliance (furnace or air conditioner) will not work at optimal efficiency. The dirt will cause resistance, which can over burden the appliance and cause two things: (1) an increase in fuel/energy consumption and (2) damage to the appliance. Thus, during a start-up/clean-out, we can examine the appliance to make sure that everything is working correctly. If your appliance is cleaned annually, you will avoid any potential damage that can be very costly to you, and you will maximize the efficiency of your appliance.
How often should I tune up my appliance?
The industry suggestion is once a year (annually). However, much can be said about how old the appliance is, and how much it was used during the previous season. For example, the older the unit, the more imperative it is to maintain the appliance to stretch the life expectancy of the unit.
Why should I have my appliance tuned up by your company?
LB HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING CO. has been in business since 1972. We have a fully certified staff of technicians with both gas and refrigerant licenses. The company is $ 5 million insured in case of accident, and it has both its TSSA (i.e., Technical Safety Standards Assoc.) and Metro Heating License. We also provide live 24-hour service to cover your needs any time of the day.
What do you do during a furnace tune up?
We will for example:
- Check operation of thermostat
- Check operation of safety limit controls
- Check blower operation
- Clean burner ports
- Examine vent connectors and inspect venting system
- Check Gas pilot safety system
- Check gas piping
What do you do during a boiler tune up?
We will for example:
- Check operation of thermostat
- Check operation of safety limit controls
- Clean burner ports
- Check ignition system
- Examine vent connectors and inspect venting system
- Check Gas pilot safety system
- Check gas piping
BUT most importantly we disassemble the hood and clean out the heat exchanger. IF the heat exchanger is not cleaned, then only half the boiler has been cleaned. Many contractors forget to clean the heat exchanger.
What do you do during an air conditioning start-up?
We will for example:
- Check operation of thermostat
- Examine condenser unit for dirt and debris
- Check operation of compressor
- Check operation of electrical wiring, fuses, relay, capacitor
- Inspect Evaporator (if possible)
- Check pressure of refrigerant in both the liquid and suction lines
How much does it cost for a sales estimate?
When purchasing a NEW furnace, boiler or air conditioner, sales estimates are free of charge and there is no obligation. During the sales estimate we will outline the different options for your unique situation and the prices for each option.
My heating/cooling systems doesn’t work, can I get a free estimate?
When you are experiencing problems with your heating or cooling unit and would like us to come to your home there will be a service call fee as well as a cost for any parts and labour.
My heating/cooling unit isn’t working, when can you come out?
We at LB HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING CO. offer live 24hrs service and respond to all calls. Generally, we are able to arrive onsite to your home in about 4-6 hours. However, during peak seasons it may take longer to respond but rest assured that we take EVERY call seriously.
How do I change my furnace, boiler and/or water heater from oil/electric to gas?
When you are interested in converting your appliance(s) to gas we can provide you with a free in-home sales estimate with all of the necessary information and paper work that is required in installing natural gas.
Do you repair gas dryers, stoves or BBQs?
We can ensure that the gas line to your unit is working properly. However, we do not do any repair work on dryers, stoves, or BBQs.
Do you work on hot water heating systems?
Yes, LB HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING CO. has been working on boilers (hot water heating systems) since its inception in 1972. Moreover, we are located in the High Park area where a large number of homes are heated with a boiler system; thus, making nearly 50% of all our heating work on boilers.
My rental water heater doesn’t work, what do I do?
If you have any difficulties with any of your rental appliances please contact the company from which you are renting the unit from; they will be able to service it. If we initially installed the unit, please continue to contact the rental company, LB HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING CO. did the installation on their behalf but the rental company is responsible for the unit.
Do you offer a rental program?
LB HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING CO. dose not offer a rental program for any types of units. However, if you are interested in purchasing a new unit, please contact our office and we can outline the pros and cons of renting a unit.
Do you work on commercial or roof-top units?
No, we only work on residential homes.
I got a red tag on my unit from the gas company (Enbridge), can you service my unit?
Yes! Give us a call with a brief description of your problem and we can advise you in ensuring that your unit follows the “Natural Gas and Propane Code”.
